Buyer-Fit Comparison ·
Brita Elite vs Clearly Filtered: Which Pitcher Fits You?
Start with the substance you want to reduce. Brita Elite is the lower-cost starting point for everyday tap-water taste. Clearly Filtered may make sense when its broader lab table covers a specific concern you have. A longer list is not the same as stronger certification.

The choice in plain English
Choose Elite for a lower replacement budget
At one gallon daily, its 120-gallon rating calls for four cartridges from new over a year. Clearly Filtered’s 100-gallon rating also calls for four. The big cost difference is the price of each replacement, not just the starter kit.
Choose P-V3 for a named target—not a long list
Check the exact substance in the P-V3 performance table before paying more. Its broader lab results are separate from NSF 42/372 certification. Standard 372 covers lead content in materials; it does not certify lead removal.
Check the pitcher and cartridge together
Elite claims apply to the listed pitcher models with the blue OB06 filter. P-V3 uses CF-PRF. Do not borrow claims from another filter that fits or from a different product generation.
Our editorial grades describe buying fit, not lab results, customer ratings or removal percentages. Bars run from 0 (poor fit) to 4 (standout). Missing evidence stays unscored. Read the reason before choosing.

| Best fit | Best starting point for everyday value A household that wants better tap-water taste, a long rated cartridge life and no plumbing. | Premium option for a named lab-tested target A buyer whose specific concern appears in the published test table and who needs a pitcher. |
| The catch | It keeps many dissolved minerals. Buy the blue Elite cartridge, not an Original cartridge with a different claim sheet. | Broader chemical results are laboratory tests, not NSF-certified lead or fluoride reduction. Check that distinction before paying more. |

Budget ranges are not live offers. Tax, shipping and earlier filter changes can add cost. Whole-house quotes must include installation and compatible service parts. Some links earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.
Pitcher budgets assume 365 gallons per year. A full replacement year buys fresh cartridges for that year; leftover capacity can carry over. More water, dirty feed or an earlier change raises the budget.
Questions before you choose
Which costs less to use at one gallon a day?
Our planning ranges favor Brita Elite: $80–$135 for the first year, versus $240–$330 for P-V3. Each includes a starter kit and three replacements. These are budget ranges, not current offers.
Does Clearly Filtered’s NSF 372 listing mean certified lead removal?
No. NSF 372 concerns lead content in materials. Check its separate performance evidence for lead reduction. Brita Elite also needs the exact pitcher model checked against its own claim sheet.
Should I use either pitcher for an unsafe well?
No. These comparisons assume cold, treated drinking water. A well with germs or unknown risks needs testing and a suitable treatment plan first.
